Bone Broth Diet For A Healthy Gut

The bone broth diet is a simple eating plan that combines rules of intermittent fasting and the Paleo diet, while at the same time allowing you to take advantage of the considerable known benefits of bone broth.

What exactly are the benefits of this type of diet? It can generally help to support healthy skin and joints, while also supporting gut health and appetite control. Also, it’s easier to maintain this diet, because you don’t need to tediously count calories or track your intake of macronutrients like in many other diets.

Of course, you should always consult your healthcare professional prior to switching to any new diet or lifestyle regimen.

Since Intermittent Fasting Is An Essential Part Of This Diet Plan, Let’s Talk About It First.

What is intermittent fasting? In short, it is an eating plan that switches between fasting and eating on a regular, previously established time schedule. Studies have shown that intermittent fasting is a great and efficient way to manage your weight and prevent, or even cure, some forms of diseases.

With intermittent fasting, you only eat during a specific time. Fasting for a certain number of hours each day or eating just one meal a couple of days a week can help your body burn fat. And scientific evidence points to some health benefits, as well.

We Evolved With Intermittent Fasting

Our bodies have evolved to be able to go without food for many hours, or even several days or longer. In prehistoric times, before humans learned to farm, they were hunters and gatherers who evolved to survive — and thrive — for long periods without eating. They had to: It took a lot of time and energy to hunt game and gather nuts and berries.

There are several different ways to do intermittent fasting, but they are all based on choosing regular time periods to eat and fast. There are practically infinite numbers of different intermittent fasting schedules.

The Gut Protocol- Stage One

This specific bone broth diet has two separate stages.

The first stage is 5 days long. During this stage you can eat:

  • Chicken or beef broth
  • Cooked veggies
  • You can add meat to your broth to increase the animal protein intake
  • Fats coming from coconut oil, avocado oil, olive oil, ghee, and animal fats
  • Sea salt
  • 1-2 teaspoons of sauerkraut juice per serving
  • Organic ginger tea
  • Sugar-free herbal tea
  • Water
  • Fresh herbs (no spices, though!)

Depending on the changes in your stool (observe the consistency), you can prolong this stage for longer than five days. Some- not many, but some- people can experience diarrhea during this stage, so one might want to prolong this stage until the diarrhea ends. Of course, you must stay hydrated the whole entire time and use common sense to differentiate between cleansing diarrhea or one that can potentially exhaust you and deplete your mineral and vitamin reserves.

Stage Two

The second stage also lasts for 5 days. You can eat and drink all the same things as in the first stage, but with the addition of stews and casserole made of meat, veggies, and animal fat. You can eat sauerkraut juice with every meal. Also, increase its amount from 1-2 teaspoons to 1-2 tablespoons per meal.

In this stage, you can also add some fermented fish, if you’d like. This is optional.

Stage Two allows for consuming veggies separate from the soup, but they must be cooked. No raw veggies should be consumed at this time.

Bone Broth Diet Can Help You Control Your Weight

Gelatin and protein found in abundance in bone broth will make you feel more full. This helps you eat less throughout the day, as you feel less hungry, and not as often as before.

Furthermore, bone broth is actually a low-calorie food with only some 30-50 calories per cup. The combination of high protein content and low-calorie count makes bone broth the perfect diet all around.
